SLIL Biomedical Announces the Appointment of
James E. Rurka as President and CEO;
Dr. Bradley Brown named to Board of Directors


MADISON, WI - June 19, 2002 / PR Newswire - SLIL Biomedical Corp. today announced that James E. (Jim) Rurka has joined the Company as President and Chief Executive Officer and a Director. Additionally, the Company announced that Dr. Bradley Brown has been named a member of SLIL’s Board of Directors.

Mr. Rurka has 33 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry,most recently serving as President and CEO of Microcide Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (MCDE: NASDAQ) from February, 1994 until October, 2001. His prior experience includes serving as President of the Cetus Oncology Division of Chiron Corporation, and as Senior Vice President, Pharmaceutical Operations of Cetus Corporation. Before joining the biotech healthcare sector in 1983, Mr. Rurka held senior marketing and business development positions with Bristol Myers Squibb and Schering-Plough Corporation, specializing in the oncology and infectious disease therapy areas.
