Anthony E. Pegg, Ph.D.

Dr. Anthony Pegg is a leading figure in the areas of polyamine biosynthesis, DNA repair and chemical carcinogenesis. Dr. Pegg was responsible for the detailed characterization of the biosynthetic pathways of polyamines in mammalian cells. This work lead to the discovery, cloning and expression of key enzymes of the polyamine biosynthetic pathway. Dr. Pegg has successfully overseen the transition of his fundamental scientific work in DNA repair into a number of therapeutic clinical trials. Dr. Pegg is currently the Evan Pugh Professor of Cellular and Molecular Physiology and the Lloyd Huck Professor of Cell and Molecular Biology at the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine. Dr. Pegg’s work has engendered much recognition, including two Merit Awards from the NIH.
